Who I am
I am Hannah Schragmann, a doctor of business ethics and philosopher.
For many years, I have been concerned with the question of how we can be productive as a society and as an economy without exhausting people or nature.
Academic background
After studying philosophy, economics, political science and business ethics in Münster, Bergen, St. Petersburg and Copenhagen, I completed my doctorate at the interface of ethics, economics and social theory under Hartmut Rosa (sociology), Lisa Schmalzried (philosophy) and Andreas Suchanek (economics). My academic work revolves around the topics of productivity, reproductivity and meaning - and how we can establish a new relationship between performance, care and sustainability. Theoretically, I was inspired by classics such as Nietzsche and Mead as well as current debates on social ethics, care work and ecological transformation. For a long time, I thought interdisciplinarity was a weakness - today I know how important it is to build bridges and speak different languages.
Practical experience & leadership
In addition to my academic work, I have been active in practice for many years, from strategy consulting to think tanks to my current work in the start-up world. As part of the management of two impact start-ups, I combine research with concrete entrepreneurship:
At Impact Hero, I work at the intersection of social justice and ecology, with a particular focus on empowering women and restoring forests in the Global South. The question of how social and ecological impact can be meaningfully financed, measured and told is at the forefront here.
With Soilytix, I develop innovative solutions in the Tech4Nature area, in particular on the question of how soils can be managed sustainably as the basis of our food and our lives. This involves the use of data, eDNA and financing systems to make agricultural transformation possible - and to give soil life a voice.
Combining philosophy & practice
This dual perspective - analytical depth and entrepreneurial responsibility - characterizes my work. I speak and write about the question of how companies, organizations and people can be sustainable, healthy and meaningfully productive in a world in transition.
My conviction:
No productivity without regeneration.
No future without care.
No healthy society without healthy soils.
No stability without fruitful relationships.
Further training & commitment
In addition to my scientific and entrepreneurial activities, I am passionate about supporting people on their path to more freedom, strength and connection! Be it as a counselor, coach or conversation partner. I myself struggled with my path for a long time and went through some really difficult times - so I am all the happier when I can tell other people about my experience.
I work actively as a counselor - and have been a volunteer for many years. I also love writing and photography, either for myself or as a way to bring other people closer to their own creative power.
Personal motivation
I see it as my task to make new narratives for productivity and the economy visible - and to bring in voices that are still not heard enough in public discourse.
I myself have always hovered between worlds - and grew up as the daughter of a farmer and a banker, between closeness to nature, pressure to perform and a longing for connection. For a long time I felt wrong, suffered and made myself small - but now I have found my way. And I am happy every time I can bring other people closer to their path.
